History The jai alai fronton, which debuted in 1976 under the ownership of Arthur W. Silvester Sr., operated for over 27 years until 2003. Rhode Island's 1991-92 budget authorized Lincoln and the state's other pari-mutuel facility, Newport Jai Alai, to offer off-track betting for 104 days a year. Simulcasting of horse races from other tracks began in July 1991.

In 2017, Twin River Management Group, the operator of Newport Grand, broke ground on a $25 million expansion project, which included construction of a 135-room hotel.

Tiverton Casino Hotel is a Twin River Management property situated on 51 acres of wooded land in Tiverton, Rhode Island, conveniently located near Route 24, providing easy access to Southeastern Massachusetts and Newport, Rhode Island. Offers a comprehensive gaming experience, the casino boasts 1,000 slot machines, 32 table games and stadium gaming.

The casino features a variety of dining options, including the Casino Café & Grille, a market square food court featuring Jacky’s Galaxie, Mooyah Burgers, Pop’s Pizza, and Dunkin Donuts. Amenities include Center Bar and complimentary parking garage.

Transformation to Bally's Tiverton

The facility was renamed as Bally's Tiverton Casino and Hotel in November 2021, as part of its parent company's rebranding to Bally's Corporation.

In 2022, Bally's agreed to sell the real estate of the Lincoln and Tiverton casinos to Gaming and Leisure Properties in a leaseback transaction, for a total of $1 billion.[31]

Sports and mobile gambling

In November 2018, Twin River opened the first sportsbook in Rhode Island and began offering sports betting. In March 2019, the governor of Rhode Island, Gina Raimondo, signed a bill to allow mobile sports betting in the state, to begin on July 1. The bill allowed for the creation of an app to allow remote placing of sports bets at Twin River Casino and Tiverton Casino. The state had legalized sports betting the year before, when the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a federal law forbidding most sports gambling in the country.

Bally Interactive introduced the first and only online casino experience, iGaming, that can be played anywhere in the State of Rhode Island on a desktop or as a stand-alone mobile app in 2024.
