History
[edit]Bed Kingdom was founded in 2011 by Ashley Hainsworth,[2] stemming from a university project to develop an e-commerce site.[3][4][5][6]
In 2011, the company began with a £400 investment.[7][8][6]
From 2018 to 2023, Bed Kingdom experienced growth, with an average annual growth rate of 70%.[9] During the Covid-19 pandemic, the company's sales increased due to a surge in online shopping during lockdowns.[10][6]
In 2021, Bed Kingdom launched its sustainable bed brand "Noomi", contributing to a 50% revenue growth in 2023.[4][7][1][11]
In the same year, Bed Kingdom opened a 70,414 sq ft distribution center in Liversedge for furniture storage and distribution.[4][8][12] The company reported revenues of £20 million in 2023.[7]
In 2023, Bed Kingdom pledged an annual donation of £5,000 to Candlelighters, a children's cancer charity in Yorkshire.[3][13]
Bed Kingdom has donated 35 mattresses to the Rainbow Baby Bank, aiding vulnerable families in Kirklees, Ossett, and Lupset.[12]
