History[edit]

Candy Funhouse is a Canadian e-commerce confectionery brand founded by Jamal Hejazi in 2018.[1]

After its initial online launch, the Canadian-based company grew a significant online following, particularly during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

The circulation of viral social media content partly aided online growth. This increased visibility led to interactions with notable figures in the sports industry, such as Giannis Antetokounmpo and others. Giannis Antetokounmpo and his family later became owners of the confectionary store.[2]

Products and Services[edit]

Recognized for its assortment of specialty snacks and nostalgic candies, Candy Funhouse expanded its product offerings in 2020 by introducing the Candy Funhouse Fun Box line.

During a partnership rollout in 2023, they launched a limited-time Giannis Antetokounmpo Fun Box.[3] In 2024 they introduced Mitch’s Mix, a promotional Fun Box in collaboration with Skip the Dishes and Mitch Marner, Toronto Maple Leafs Right Wing.[4]

Following the announcement of Giannis’ stake in the company[5], Candy Funhouse launched its .com website, expanding its reach across North America.[6]

Candy Funhouse’s selection of products ranges between nostalgic finds and popular snacks. Products include but are not limited to, Kinder Chocolate, Oreo, Pocky, Hi-Chew Candy, Warheads, and Nerds. The online candy retailer is known for carrying limited edition variations of these cult-classic snacks.

Notable Media Attention[edit]

Candyologists[edit]

Trademarked by the confectionary brand in 2021, Candyologists are known as the “experts of candy” and offer their insights on the latest sweets that enter the market. This role is what initially inspired the Chief Candy Officer position.[7]

Chief Candy Officer (CCO)[edit]

Candy Funhouse made headlines in 2022[8] when it announced it was offering a $100,000 salary[9] for its first Chief Candy Officer (CCO). The role requires the CCO to taste test the candy inventory[10] alongside the Candyologists.[11]

It was later revealed that they would be turning the CCO selection process into a reality TV show, partnering with Fly on the Wall (producers of Big Brother). Giannis Antetokounmpo also signed on as an Executive Producer.[12]

Giannis Antetokounmpo[edit]

In 2020, Milwaukee Bucks All-Star Giannis Antetokounmpo posted a video of himself opening a Candy Funhouse box.[13] He claimed the candy box was something he needed at the time due to Covid-19 restrictions.[14]

In June 2023, Candy Funhouse announced that Giannis Antetokounmpo and his brothers Thanasis, Kostas and Alex became shareholders and part-owners of the confectionery brand.[6]

Collaborations and Community Outreach[edit]

Notable collaborations include a limited edition Skip the Dishes x Mitch Marner Fun Box in 2024.[4] Candy Funhouse has previously partnered with charitable foundations such as Ronald McDonald Charity House in Toronto[15] and Giannis Antetokounmpo’s family foundation, CAFF.[16]

Cultures and Values[edit]

Candy Funhouse sits at the intersection of candy and pop culture. They emphasize creating meaningful experiences that resonate with its audience.

“At the intersection of pop culture and candy, you'll find Candy Funhouse, the largest online candy retailer that prides itself on creating meaningful experiences worth sharing!”[4]
