Carmelo Ezpeleta Peidro (born July 17, 1946) he is a Spanish sports manager related to auto racing and motorcycle sport in Catalonia. Of Basque origin by paternal line, he has been five-time champion of Spain in jai alai with the team of Catalonia and twice champion of Catalonia. Also since 1994 he is the CEO of Dorna Sports.
During the last years of the Montjuïc circuit, he was the promoter of the Circuit de Calafat, inaugurated in 1974, which he ran until 1981. He was also general director of the Circuito del Jarama and of RACE sports activities (1978-1988 ) where he was in charge of the organization, among other races, of the Spanish Formula 1 and motorcycling grand prix contested on that circuit. At the same time, he organized the Spanish Rally and created the Spanish Rally Championship and the Ford España rally team, with which Carlos Sainz Sr. made his debut in the World Rally Championship. In 1988 he was appointed general manager of the consortium responsible for the construction of the Circuit de Catalunya and sports director of the Real Automobile Club de Catalunya (RACC), where he was the most responsible for the organization of the passage of the Dakar Rally through Barcelona and the Baja Aragón.
