Draft:DR's Cultural Heritage Project

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The DR Cultural Heritage Project was established in connection with the media agreement for 2007-2010, where politicians allocated a special grant of DKK 75 million to secure the archives of the Danish public television and radio broadcaster DR for the sake of cultural heritage. The funding is tied to an obligation to actively work to make DR’s archives available to the Danish public to the greatest extent possible. The obligation is defined in the public service contract between DR and the Ministry of Culture.

The grant is managed by DR with a dedicated accounting system, and regular reports are submitted directly to the Ministry of Culture. The DR Heritage Project is part of the DR Media division, with Media Director Gitte Rabøl having overall responsibility.

The purpose of the DR Heritage Project is to digitize DR’s archives, ensuring their preservation for future generations, and to provide all Danes with the opportunity to explore danish history.
