Tharupathi Munasinghe, PhD. (born 1975) is a Sri Lankan ethnomusicologist, composer, and academic. He is currently affiliated with the University of Melbourne..[1], where he serves as a sessional academic and research assistant in the School of Culture and Communication[2]. Munasinghe has composed music for various films and television series and authored several books on sound and music[1]

Early years

Munasinghe's father, Austin Munasinghe[3], was a pioneering musicologist in Sri Lankan music industry, including cinema, stage plays, and television dramas[4]

Academic Career

Tharupathi Munasinghe is currently affiliated with the University of Melbourne, where he serves as a sessional academic and research assistant in the School of Culture and Communication[1]. His research interests include sound design, ethnomusicology, and the body in performance[2]
