Gregorio López Naguil was an Argentine painter, set designer and illustrator born in Buenos Aires on March 15, 1894. He studied with Ernesto de la Cárcova and, in Europe, he was a student of Francesc Galí, in Barcelona, and Desiré Roca, in Paris. He was also a disciple of Anglada Camarasa, thanks to whom he approached art nouveau or modernisme style.
In contrast to his teacher, in the 1920s he did not use colors typical of Impressionism, but instead approached the avant-garde trends of his time, approaching the style of the austrian painter Gustav Klimt.
Later, settled in Cala San Vicenç, he painted the series dedicated to the "Pi de Formentor" and the "Cap del Pinar". Back in Argentina, he was a teacher and set designer at the Cervantes and Colón theaters. In 1928 he participated in the "Mallorca Painting Exhibition"; In 1931 he did it at the "Salón de Autum", in Palma, and then at the "Galerías Witcomb", in Buenos Aires. In 1948, an exhibition was held in his honor at the "Círculo de Bellas Artes" in Palma. López Naguil died in Buenos Aires on December 13, 1953.
