IDN Media is a media platform company for millennials and generation Z in Indonesia . This company was founded on June 8 2014 in Surabaya , East Java , and is based in Jakarta , by 2 brothers Winston Utomo[1] and William Utomo.[2]

Business units[edit]

IDN Media operates five main business lines, namely digital media, live streaming, entertainment, commercial and creator economy.[3]

Media Digital[edit]

IDN Media has 7 website-based digital media with different reader segments (through PT. Media Putra Nusantara), namely::[4][5][6][7]

  • IDN Times - a media company covering news and entertainment for millennials and generation Z.
  • Popbela.com - multi-platform digital media about fashion, beauty, pop culture and lifestyle for women.
  • Popmama.com - digital media about the journey of motherhood, from pregnancy to K-12
  • Yummy - digital media that contains cooking tutorial content , food , recipes and culinary exploration
  • FORTUNE Indonesia - media about analysis, movements and predictions of shares, business, capital markets, banking, investments and mutual funds.
  • GGWP (previously: GGWP.ID) - digital media about electronic sports, games and electronic sports tournaments
  • Duniaku.com - media that discusses video games, anime, technology and geek culture
  • IDN App (PT. Media Putra Nusantara) is a mobile application launched on June 8 2020 . IDN App launched the IDN Live live streaming platform as one of its features, in addition to the IDN News (news platform), IDN Quiz (quiz platform), and IDN Question and Answer (question-answer platform) features.[8]
  • Saweria (PT. Harta Tahta Sukaria) is a livestreaming monetization platform in Indonesia , which allows creators to not only connect with their fans, but also get support directly from them. In 2023, IDN Media officially acquired Saweria.[9]

Commercial[edit]

IDN Media has a commercial business line that supports company businesses in the digital sector. This line consists of:[10][11]

  • IDN Creative (digital advertising agency)
  • IDN Event (event organizer)
  • Bluebird IDN OOH (formerly: IDN Programmatic OOH) ( the largest transportation-based programmatic out-of-home media in Indonesia)

Entertainment[edit]

Film: IDN Pictures[edit]

In 2020, IDN Media began to enter the entertainment industry by acquiring Demi Istri Production, which is a film company owned by Fajar Nugros (as director) and Susanti Dewi (as producer), and changed its name to IDN Pictures.[12][13][14][15]

Musik: JKT48[edit]

Apart from the world of film, IDN Media has also begun to enter the world of music, namely to acquire the idol group JKT48 from Dentsu Inter Admark Media Group Indonesia on April 7 2022,[16] because the group has entered the NEW ERA (New Era) formation era since January 8 2022. However, rumors have been discussed regarding this process, although this has been confirmed by the Indonesian startup Instagram account @ecommurz. [17] On June 27 2022, JKT48 officially became part of IDN Media, which was mediated by Reisman Sabaru & Partners Strategic (RSPS) (a law firm based in Jakarta), with the group's new company name being PT . Indonesia Musik Nusantara [18] nd under license from Vernalossom Co. Ltd. (via Superball Inc.) from Japan .[19]

After 5 quarters, to be precise on October 6 2023, IDN Media has inaugurated the new JKT48 office which is located on the 3rd floor of the Global Tower, South Jakarta , DKI Jakarta . The new office is a move from a rented luxury house in Jakarta, to be used as an office and special training place for JKT48. Although the distance between fX Sudirman (via the JKT48 Theater located on the 4th floor) and Global Tower (via the new JKT48 office located on the 3rd floor) is around 3 km. .[20][21][22][23][24][25]

Boss Creator is a leading music and festival company in Indonesia. Joining IDN Media on October 17 2023, Boss Creator is now integrated into the IDN Media ecosystem.[26] One of Boss Creator's flagship events is Pestapora, a music festival that offers a unique and unforgettable experience for Indonesian music lovers. Pestapora 2023 (taking place on 22 - 24 September 2023) has achieved tremendous success with ticket sales surpassing around 120,000 tickets, featuring 224 musicians (including JKT48 ), and receiving the support of more than 70 brands and sponsors.[27]

Creator Economy[edit]

  • ICE (Indonesia Creator Economy) is an agency company in the influencer marketing sector which was launched in 2022. Previously, ICE was called IDN Creator Network, which is a creator platform in Indonesia. ICE is a creator agency owned by IDN Media. There are five services provided by ICE, namely content creator marketing , content creator trading , content creator representation , financial technology solutions , and brand & product development .[28][29][30]
  • MORF is a talent management agency with a focus on developing talents to become content creators. MORF was founded by Deddy Corbuzier and joined the IDN Media ecosystem on September 8 2023.[31]

Funding[edit]

Since its founding, IDN Media has received 5 series of funding, the latest being Series D funding. IDN Media, which at that time was still known as IDN Times, received its first seed investment funding on September 7 2015 from East Ventures.[32] The following year, on September 5 2016, IDN Media obtained Series A funding from North Base Media and several other investors, such as GDP Venture ( Djarum Group ), East Ventures, and MNM Creative.[33]

On November 21, 2017, IDN Media received Series B funding from East Ventures and Central Exchange (from Hong Kong ). [34][35] Then, on January 8 2019, IDN Media obtained Series C funding from EV Growth, a venture company which is a combination of East Ventures, Sinar Mas , and Yahoo! Japan , True Digital (part of the Thai conglomerate Charoen Pokphand ), and LINE Venture.[36][37]

On June 6 2022, IDN Media received Series D funding from Mayapada Group and KMIF (an investment company from several large Indonesian conglomerate groups). Other investors are East Ventures, OCBC NISP Ventura, Dentsu Group , and V Media Ventures.[38] This makes IDN Media one of the largest media companies in Indonesia.
