Rabbi Jonah Lerner is an American Orthodox rabbi and educator known for his extensive work with NCSY (National Conference of Synagogue Youth), where he serves as the Regional Director for the Atlantic Seaboard region.
Early Life and Education
[edit]Rabbi Jonah Lerner was born and raised in the United States. He pursued his rabbinical studies at yeshivot, including Yeshiva University.[citation needed]
Career
[edit]Rabbi Lerner has dedicated much of his career to working with NCSY. He is the Regional Director for the Atlantic Seaboard, overseeing various programs and initiatives aimed at engaging Jewish youth in religious, educational, and social activities.[citation needed]
Rabbi Lerner is known for organizing large-scale events, such as the annual Jewish Music Festival in Baltimore, which attracts thousands of attendees and showcases Jewish culture and community spirit. The festival has become a significant event in the Jewish calendar, promoting Jewish unity and engagement.[1]
In addition to the festival, Rabbi Lerner has been instrumental in the success of the Senator Ben Cardin Jewish Scholars Program, an initiative designed to foster leadership and educational opportunities for Jewish teens. The program combines text-based study with mentorship from local Jewish leaders, creating a model that has been adopted nationally.[2]
Rabbi Lerner was also involved in setting a Guinness World Record for the most simultaneous menorah lightings, a feat that brought together hundreds of Jewish teens and community members to celebrate Chanukah in a unique and inspiring way.[3]
