Juan Carlos Iturregui is an American lawyer and businessman who is the nominee to serve as the United States ambassador to the Dominican Republic.
Education[edit]
Inturregui earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1986 and a Juris Doctor from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. in 1990.[1][2]
Career[edit]
Inturregui serves as managing partner of Milan Americas, LLC, his consulting practice specializing in business, regulatory and public policy issues, with a focus on infrastructure and renewable energy projects in the Caribbean and Latin America. He is a former partner at Nelson Mullins, LLP, a national full-service law firm. Previously, he served as a senior advisor for over a decade at Dentons, LLP, the world’s largest law firm. He also served on the vice chair of the American Red Cross, National Capital Region and he serves as vice chair of the board of the Inter-American Foundation[3] after being nominated by President Barack Obama in 2014[4][5] and concluded a 4-year term a member of the Board of Visitors at George Mason University. Earlier, Iturregui was a member of the President's Export Council, the nation's top advisory panel on international trade and overseas markets.[1]
On November 30, 2023, President Joe Biden nominated Iturregui to serve as the next United States ambassador to the Dominican Republic.[6] His nomination received the endorsement of Congrssman Adriano Espaillat.[7] His nomination is pending before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.[8]
