LOCATION AND DEMOGRAPHICS[edit]

Kansoe is a well-established community situated within the Bongo District[1] of Ghana's Upper East Region. It falls within the enclave of Namoo[2], a border community in the district. The estimated population of Kansoe is approximately 800 people. The ethnic group residing in Kansoe is the Gurunsi[3], with Farfra serving as the common language for communication.

GOVERNANCE AND ADMINISTRATION[edit]

Kansoe demonstrates a well-organized structure with a designated chief who provides local leadership. The community is effectively represented at the district assembly, ensuring a voice in the decision-making processes that impact the Bongo District.

ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES[edit]

Kansoe fosters economic activity through its owned dedicated marketplace, situated conveniently on the western side of the community. This market serves as a central hub for residents to engage in commerce and trade. The common occupations include farming, business and formal works.

Two prominent landmarks define Kansoe's landscape:

  • Azembeo Dam: This dam serves as a crucial water resource for the community for construction works, irrigation, and animals.
