Kelvin Clay Fonseca (born March 16, 1995, in Brasília, Brazil) is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athlete. Hailing from Brasilia, Fonseca's interest in Jiu-Jitsu began in 2011. He started training at Gracie Barra under the guidance of instructors Eliezer Dutra and Paulo Melo, who quickly recognized his potential in the sport. [1]

Early Career

Fonseca began training Jiu-Jitsu in 2011 at Gracie Barra under the tutelage of Eliezer Dutra and Paulo Melo. He competed in his first Jiu-Jitsu competition in 2012 at the "Mundial Rockstrike" event held at the Nilson Nelson gymnasium in Brasília.

Jiu-Jitsu Career

By 2018, Fonseca had achieved a brown belt under Paulo Melo and continued to train at Gracie Barra - Jardim Céu Azul. Currently a black belt, he trains at the school of two-time world champion, Professor Paulo Melo.

Parajiu-Jitsu

Fonseca is also a prominent figure in Parajiu-Jitsu, the Paralympic category of Jiu-Jitsu. In 2017, he competed in the UAEJJF's WORLD PROFESSIONAL JIU-JITSU CHAMPIONSHIP held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. There, he secured a gold medal in the "Open Mat" category and a silver medal in the "N" category.

The same year, Fonseca participated in the Grand Slams held in Los Angeles, California (USA) and Tokyo, Japan, where he earned silver medals in both competitions.

Advocacy

A multi-time medalist, Fonseca is a champion for the sport. In 2017, he co-founded the Brazilian Federation of Paralympic Jiu-Jitsu (FBJJP) alongside four other parathletes. The FBJJP works to promote Parajiu-Jitsu on a global scale, with Fonseca serving as its director.
