Mohit Lad is an Indian born American entrepreneur who co-founded ThousandEyes (an Internet monitoring company) in 2010. ThousandEyes raised over $110 million in venture investments and was acquired by Cisco in 2020 for a reported $1 billion USD,[1] after which Lad served as Senior Vice President/General Manager at Cisco till June 2024.
Early Life and Education[edit]
Lad was born in Mumbai, grew up in Nashik and finished his Bachelors Degree in Computer Engineering at Sardar Patel Institute of Technology in Mumbai. Lad received a Masters and Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of California, Los Angeles. His Ph.D. advisor was Lixia Zhang and his doctoral thesis was on Visualizing and Troubleshooting Internet Outages.
Career[edit]
In 2010, Lad started ThousandEyes with Ricardo Oliveira whom he had worked with during his Ph.D. program at UCLA. Lad and Oliveira re-used discarded servers by companies closing down during the 2010 crash to build their first datacenter in the garage.[2] In 2020, Cisco acquired ThousandEyes for a reported $1 billion USD[1]. Post acquisition, Lad was SVP/GM at Cisco till June 2024.
Lad served on the board for Groove Inc., a company in Sales Engagement that was acquired by Clari, Inc.
Lad was also active with North American Network Operators' Group and served on it's Program Committee for 4 years between 2012-2018.
