Benjamin Jackson Blades, professionally known as Nasty Jack, is a British MC, rapper, singer, producer, and songwriter from Shepherds Bush, West London. He rose to prominence around the birth of the UK grime scene, in the late days of UK garage music, on pirate radio stations across London. He later became a key member of the N.A.S.T.Y Crew (Natural Artistic Sounds Touching You), a legendary grime collective that featured notable artists such as Kano, Ghetts, D Double E, Stormin, Sharky Major, Jammer, DJ Mak 10 and Marcus Nasty. Releasing music in collaboration with Tizzy Gang, Raw Mission Hype Squad and as a solo artist, King Kweffa, Jack is considered a major influence in UK grime.
Described as "high-octane war lyrics and party rhymes"[1], Jack is known for a signature style that blends musical dancehall influences with dubstep-influenced beats and rhythms. Tenor Saw, Supercat and Yami Bolo have all been influential in his work but he cites Ninjaman as his primary influence, saying “He gives you a stage show, entertainment whilst still bringing a light hearted angle to his war bars.”[2]
