Ashok Kumar (born 03 December 1991), popularly known as Neyveli Ashok, is a Periyarist, Dravidian movement thinker, atheist, translator and writer from Tamil Nadu.
Neyveli Ashok was born in Neyveli, a town in Kurinchipadi taluk, Cuddalore district. His father is Srinivasan and mother is Kaveri. He completed his schooling from St.Paul's Matriculation Higher Secondary School,[1] Neyveli. He then completed his Bachelor of Engineering from Bharath University,[2] Chennai.
He got married to Haritha in 2021. Haritha holds her BSc in Physician Assistant and MSc in Human Genetics degrees. They have a daughter. Her name is Karuvaki. It is noteworthy that they got married by the method created by Vallalār by rejecting the Brahmin rituals and as a symbol of abolition of caste.
In 2019, Periyar Saravanan[3] from Srirangam, Trichy District wrote a book titled Dravida Vivasaaya Thozhilalar Sangam[4] and published it through Karunchattai Publishing House. Neyveli Ashok came into contact with Periyar Saravanan about the book. After that, he imbibed in Periyar and Dravidian doctrines deeply through him. During those times Periyar Saravanan was the state policy secretary of Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi, a political party in Tamil Nadu .
Neyveli Ashok started to take part in Dravidian Movement activities, debates in YouTube[5][6] , write for blogs[7] and book translation works.
