Posla is a caste ( reffered as Po-sla )in Haryana , some parts of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh. Posla word is derived from word "poshyk" which is referred as Lord Vishnu. Historically they were believed to be the parts of Royal sabhas (read as Sabha )of Rajputs and played a role there Majorly they belong to the Rajput caste and are classified as Khstriyas.
There are no major historical records of The Posla's but are believed to still exist in some places. With time the Posla's started using other titles also such as Singh, Chauhan,Tomar, Rana , Rawat, etc resulting in the limiting of the word Posla majorly in use . They are referred as Sisodiya Rajputs and their ancestors are believed to be the Rajput of Mewar and Chittorgarh . They trace a blood line with Maharana Pratap.
It is believed that The Posla were great warriors who with Rana Sanga and Maharana Pratap fought bravely against many Mughal rulers .
Loktakshya Posla was one of the commanders in the Seige of Chittorgarh ( military expedition of the Mughal Empire under Akbar against the Mewar kingdom ) in 1567 . Although Mughals successfully captured the fort of Chittorgarh after the hard-pressed siege which lasted several days , Posla was among the last standing men and according to the folk tales fought more than a 100 Mughal soldiers and fought to death but never gave up against them . He was almost like a pillar against the Mughal troops .
Thereafter Posla remained in the folk tales of Mewar and parts of Rajasthan but surprisingly have very less written history of there own .
One such example is of Raja Rawat Singh who established villages in Haryana .
