The Recreational Outdoor Campus (ROC) is a 150-acre multi-seasonal facility located in Georgina, Ontario, Canada. It offers a variety of recreational activities for all ages and interests throughout the year. The ROC officially opened its doors to the public on January 20, 2012.[1]

The ROC's main feature is the 105-ft tall man-made tubing, ski and snowboard hill.[2] The hill features a magic-carpet style lift.

During the winter months, the ROC transforms into a winter wonderland. Visitors can enjoy:

Summer Activities[edit]

In the warmer months, the ROC offers a range of outdoor activities, including:

  • Ropes course and rock climbing challenges.
  • Ziplining and high ropes courses.
  • A free bike park with dedicated trails.
  • Walking trails, splash pad, and sports fields for soccer, baseball, basketball, volleyball, and tennis.

The ROC also features:

  • A chalet with food and beverage services.
  • Equipment rentals for skiing, snowboarding.
  • Group booking options for birthday parties, corporate events, and school outings.

Events[edit]

The ROC hosts events for many public holidays and community gatherings such as New Year's Eve, SnoFest (Georgina's annual winter festival),Canada Day and other events throughout the year.

Controversies[edit]

  • The construction of the ROC was C$1.6M over-budget, [3]
  • On July 7, 2012, two men were charged in connection with vandalism at the ROC and municipal facilities. About C$100,000 in damage was reported to the interior of the ROC chalet and to municipal vehicles.[4]
