Tumi Amar is a 1994 Bangladeshi romantic drama film. The film is directed by Zahirul Haque and Tamiz Uddin Rizvi.[1][2] The story of this film is written by Abdullah Zahir Babu and the screenplay and dialogues are written by Zahirul Haque. The film was produced Shamser Ahmed under the banner of Adrita Chalachitra and distributed by Anupam Recording Media. The lead role played by Salman Shah and Shabnur and the supporting role are played by KS Firoz, Don, Mithu, Rasheda Chowdhury, Syed Hasan Imam and others. After Salman Shah's first super hit film Keyamat Theke Keyamat (1993), it is the second super hit film and first film of the Dhallywood's popular jury Salman-Shabnur.[3] They are placed after popular Razzak-Kabori pair in the film history of the Dhallywood.[4]

Story
[edit]Akash (Salman Shah) is a brilliant student. Friends pass the exam after his notes. But everyone looks at him a little warily for using Akash, the child of a poor mother, to do things without telling his friends. No job due to lack of references despite qualifications. At night like a thief enters the house and the landlord knocks. One day, while sitting in a friend's CD shop, Dana (Shabnur) meets him. His friend introduced him to Dana as the shop owner. He meets Dana again at another friend's hotel. That friend also introduced him to Dana as a rich man. Through this friend he met a wealthy businessman and appointed him as manager of his car business. When Dana's car breaks down, she takes her father to Akash's car showroom to buy a new car. Dana thinks Akash owns this business too and introduces him to his father. In this way they slowly started coming closer to each other.
On Dana's birthday, her father gave her a car. Akash participated in the event to deliver the car. On this occasion Dana's father (KS Firoz) proposes her marriage to his friend's son Masum (Don). Dana was suddenly surprised by this decision. And Akash leaves the ceremony feeling proud of it. Dana later manages to convince her parents that she loves Akash. Dana's father Anisur Rahman (KS Firoz) accepts his daughter's decision and takes the marriage proposal to Akash's house. With the help of his friends, Akash introduces him to Dana's father as the grandson of prominent businessman Afzal Chowdhury (Syed Hasan Imam). Anisur Rahman arranged their wedding. But Masum (Don) reveals all the secrets. Akash became a gel. With the help of his friends, he gets bail and escapes with Dana. Various events started happening there.

Music
[edit]The music of the film is directed by Abu Taher. Gazi Mazharul Anwar and Moniruzzaman Monir wrote the song. Runa Laila, Samina Chowdhury, Kumar Bishwajit, Kanak Chapa, Sheikh Ishtiaque, and Khan Asif Agun have given voice to the song.[6][7]
Release
[edit]The film was released on Eid al-Adha of 1994, 22 May in Bangladesh.[8][9] It is being released again after 29 years on February 10, 2023 at Abhiruchi Cinema Hall in Barisal.[10]
