The Upper Northeastern Slope is a physiographic region in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. It comprises the municipalities of Caxias do Sul, Bento Gonçalves, Guaporé, Flores da Cunha, Nova Prata, Farroupilha, and Garibaldi.
It covers an area of 7,683 km² and borders the Lower Northeastern Slope and the Campos de Cima da Serra. It is situated at altitudes ranging from 300 to 600 meters in the valleys, up to 800 meters along its plateau boundaries.[1]
The vegetation in this region transitions between broadleaf forests and pine forests. Broadleaf forests dominate the lower areas and are lush, while mixed forests and pine forests are found in the higher regions, on gentler slopes, and in wide valleys.[1]
The Upper Northeastern Slope is located in the Taquari-Antas River Basin and the Caí River Basin.
