Draft:Valentin Bakardjiev
Submission declined on 17 August 2023 by Robert McClenon (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

Valentin Simeonov Bakardjiev (Bulgarian: Валентин Симеонов Бакърджиев; 20 March 1970) is a Bulgarian multimedia artist, using ancient techniques to create contemporary art. Valentin Bakardjiev was born in Sliven, Bulgaria, where he graduated from the Highschool of Art “Dimitar Dobrovich” in 1989. He started working in the Drama Theatre of Sliven “Stefan Kirov”, and later continued his props master career in the National Satirical Theatre of Sofia “Aleko Konstantinov”, Bulgaria. During those turbulent years of changing its political system, Bulgaria was finally open to the world and Valentin Bakardjiev decided to follow his adventurous and curious spirit and moved to the Dominican Republic. There, with a pause of 3 years, during which he was living in Milan, he was a full-time artist working on commissioned art works and hotel interior designs. He left the Dominican Republic in 2008, when he permanently moved to the Netherlands. Currently he lives and works in Amsterdam.[1]
Being a citizen of various countries and experiencing many different cultures, he channelled his art energy into projects, linking shared cultural traits and showing the world as a place without borders. He is working towards sustainability by using natural, recycled, and upcycled materials, creating contemporary art that connects the past with the present.[2]
Earlier in his life he was exploring and working with oil on canvas, representing ornaments and symbols of world mythology. He was also interested in creating graphic and aquarelle works and was experimenting with batik and other textile techniques.
In his career he had many solo and group exhibitions in Paris, Amsterdam, Geneva, Shanghai, Milan, Chicago and others, and many publications and lectures about his art research. For most of his projects he is researching and applying techniques from an era when our planet was still clean. Focusing on nature, framing nature, and reminding us that we are part of nature, he is creating awareness on the importance of keeping the planet clean.[3]
