- Comment: We need significant coverage of Patchipulusu not mere passing mentions and The Times of India is not a reliable source. Theroadislong (talk) 17:56, 3 November 2024 (UTC)

Vamsi Patchipulusu is an Indian cinematographer from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. He is known for his work in the South Indian film industry, having contributed to several notable films in Telugu cinema. Vamsi began his career in the early 2010s and has worked on various projects in different capacities, from an operative cameraman to a director of photography.[1][2]
Vamsi Patchipulusu was nominated for the SIIMA Award for Best Cinematographer – Telugu for his work on Major in 2023.[3]
Personal Life
[edit]He pursued his schooling in Visakhapatnam, attending St. Aloysius High School and Pollocks High School. He later graduated with a degree in Biotechnology from Dr. L.B. College.[4] Vamsi was always interested in the arts, particularly photography, which he pursued as a hobby during his college years. He furthered his interest in the visual arts by enrolling in a course in visual effects (VFX) and editing. This training led him to take on freelance work in VFX and editing while completing his education.[5]
Career
[edit]Vamsi's formal career in the film industry began when he moved to Hyderabad in 2010. His initial experience in cinematography came through assisting well-known Malayalam cinematographer Sabu James for two years. Following this, he worked under cinematographer SK Bhoopathi as an assistant cameraman.[6][7]
In 2012, Vamsi began collaborating with cinematographer Shaneil Deo, which eventually led to his role as an operative cameraman for the film Kshanam (2016). He continued to work with Deo as the second unit DOP for Goodachari (2018).[8][9]
Vamsi made his debut as the lead cinematographer with the thriller Evaru (2019). His later work includes Varudu Kaavelenu (2021) and Major (2022). Major is a biographical film about Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, which was released in multiple languages and was both a critical and commercial success.[10]
