Draft:Wings Over

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wings Over is a fast-casual chicken wing chain with around 30 locations across 9 states in the United States. Known for its diverse range of chicken wings, tenders and flavors, the brand has a strong following, particularly in college towns.

[edit]

Wings Over is known for serving fresh-made chicken wings, tenders, sandwiches and wraps. The menu features 18 unique flavors, from classic Buffalo sauces to specialty house-made options like Honey BBQ and Garlic Parmesan. The wings and tenders are cooked fresh to order and are paired with made-in-house ranch and blue cheese dips, emphasizing the brand’s commitment to quality.

Early History

Wings Over was founded in 1999 in Amherst, Massachusetts by two friends Patrick Daly and Harold Tramazzo. [1] The chain served late night chicken wings and tenders with a variety of different sauces. After finding early success the chain began to expand rapidly in the early 2000s by franchising to local owner-operators.

Wings Over peaked at 40 units across 13 states in the 2010s and was acquired by a new ownership group in 2017.[2]

Rebranding and Challenges

In 2018, the new management team, led by Dan Leyva, led a major rebrand of the brand. [3] The changes were intended to position Wings Over as an approachable, premium alternative to traditional sports bars. However, poor franchisee support and customer confusion lead to severe operational struggles and declining sales.

This resulted in the brand closing number of stores over the past few years

- Wings Over Fairfield in 2024

- Wings Over Middletown in 2024

- Wings Over Bowling Green in 2023

- Wings Over Athens

- Wings Over South Bend

- Wings Over Clemson in 2020

- Wings Over College Park

Realizing these mistakes, in 2023 the company ousted Leyva and completely reorganized its management team.

Current Status

Today, Wings Over operates approximately 30 stores and is focused on regaining customer loyalty and stabilizing operations. With a renewed commitment to listening to its customers, the brand aims to rebuild trust and continue delivering the memorable food experiences that made it a beloved name in its communities.
