Elastica is the debut album by English alternative rock group Elastica, released in March 1995. At the time the fastest-selling debut album ever in the UK,[4] Elastica was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize.[5] It hit #1 on the UK Albums Chart.[6] The record also did well in the US, peaking at #66 on the Billboard Hot 200[7] and being certified Gold[8] , selling about 600,000 copies.[citation needed]
