Esenyurt is a district of the Istanbul Province and to that also a part of the metropolitan municipality of Istanbul. It is situated in the western, European part of the city and had a population of 403,895 inhabitants by the end of 2009.[1] The mayor is Necmi Kadıoğlu (AKP).
