Farol da Preguiça (Portuguese for Preguiça Lighthouse), also as Farol do Porto Velho (Portuguese for the "old port") is a lighthouse located near the shore of Baía de São Jorge in Preguiça on the island of São Nicolau in northern Cape Verde.[3]
About the lighthouse
The lighthouse was first built in 1890 for ships entering and leaving the port. Its structure is a masonry hut and is coloured white. It sits at about 18 meters above sea level in the village, it is seven meters tall and its focal height is at 25 meters above sea level and is solar powered. Its lighthouse range is 9 km (5 nmi) encompassing the west of the bay, the southern part extend beyond the line of the bay. Its characteristic is Fl (2+1) R 15s.
