French ship Richelieu

Four ships of the French Navy have been named in honour of Armand-Jean du Plessis, Cardinal and Duc de Richelieu, considered to be one of the founders of the French Navy.

French ironclad Richelieu (1873), a central battery ironclad.^[1]^{[note 1]}
French patrol boat Richelieu (1915), an auxiliary patrol boat.^[1]
French battleship Richelieu (1939), a fast battleship.^[1]
French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, a nuclear aircraft carrier was originally named Richelieu.^[1]^[2]
The projected new French aircraft carrier, if built, may be named Richelieu.^[3]
