Gao Lin (Chinese: 郜林) is a Chinese football player who currently plays for Shanghai Shenhua[1].

Club career

He started his professional career with Shanghai Shenhua in 2004 where his height and heading ability was quickly utilized[2]. However the subsequent seasons he found himself unable to establish himself within the team, with Xie Hui preferred above Gao Lin in the team. Often finding himself playing on the flanks with his good passing and assists, Gao Lin would only establish himself as a regular team member once Xie Hui left Shanghai Shenhua at the end of the 2007 season. Finding himself playing as a striker again in the 2008 season he would score 8 goals with 18 appearances[3].

International career

Was part of the squad in the Football at the 2008 Summer Olympics - Men's tournament where he played in all three group games starting the first two games[4].

Though he made his debut in 2005 for the senior national team Gao Lin did not score his first goal until 21st January 2009 against Vietnam for the 2011 AFC Asian Cup qualification game where he scored a hat-trick[5].
