Gracemount High School is a non-denominational six-year comprehensive secondary school serving south-east Edinburgh, Scotland. It has a current roll of over 600 pupils and around 80 staff. It is operated by City of Edinburgh Council, the local education authority.

History

Old building

The original school building was opened in 1959. In 2000, with the school in a very poor state and needing repairs, Edinburgh Council decided that the cost of repairing the building was too great, and that creating a new building would be a more viable solution.

New building

Pupils and staff moved into the new building in August 2003. It is located adjacent to Captain's Road, and to where the old school formerly stood.

Uniform

The current uniform worn by pupils is a light blue shirt, plain black trousers or leggings (must have a skirt worn over), plain black shoes (no colours or logos) and the school tie. The tie is black with the logo located on the front. Hoodies or jumpers can be worn, as long as they are plain black and have either a zip or a v-neck to ensure that the tie is visible.

Cycling event

The school is the halfway point for the 2017 London–Edinburgh–London cycle ride.
