Harrold Priory Middle School, sometimes referred to as HPMS, is an academy school in the village of Harrold, Bedfordshire. It is one of the three main feeder schools to Sharnbrook Upper School, along with Lincroft Middle School and Margaret Beaufort Middle School. It opened in 1937 as Harrold County School.[1]

History

The school opened as Harrold (Senior) County School on 31 May 1937. It opened with Mr J.G. Watson as the headmaster and was designed to take pupils from the age of 11 to 14.[1] In 1944, it was renamed Harrold County Secondary School. It was renamed again in the 1970s, with the Bedfordshire County Council moving the education system to three-tier, and the school being renamed Harrold Priory Middle School as part of the process. Also, the school's age range changed to 9-13 at the same time (due to it changing to middle school status).[1]

On 1 February 2011, Harold Priory Middle School formally gained academy status.
