US did not 'surpass' the USSR by landing on the moon, they simply made another milestone. To treat this as a 'victory' or even 'catching up' in the entirety of the space race is blatantly ignorant and revisionist. Both the USSR and United States made significant contributions to Space Exploration. Arguments over who won or lost the space race belong on Reddit or X (formerly Twitter), not Wikipedia. undo Tag: Visual edit
