Horokhiv (Ukrainian: Горохів, Polish: Horochów, Yiddish: ארכעוו, Russian: Горохов) is a town in Volyn Oblast, Ukraine. It serves as the administrative center of Horokhiv Raion. Population: 9,165 (2015 est.)[1]
History
The first written mention of it was in 1240 in the Hypatian Codex.
During World War II, hundreds of Jews[2] of the city are kept imprisoned in a ghetto before being murdered in a mass execution perpetrated by an einsatzgruppen.[3][4]
