IEEE Transactions on Multimedia is an academic journal, published by the IEEE Computer Society, IEEE Communications Society, IEEE Circuits and Systems Society and IEEE Signal Processing Society covering multimedia technology and applications. This includes circuits, algorithms and architectures, software design, synchronization, joint processing of multimedia/multimodal signals/data, compression, storage, retrieval, networking, and multi-modality devices or systems.

The magazine ranked among the most-cited journals in Telecommunications (#10), according to the 2008 annual Journal Citation Reports published by the Thomson Institute for Scientific Information.
