Indya Moore (born 1995) is an American actress and model from The Bronx, New York.[1] She is known for her role as Angel, a main character, in Pose.[2]

Career

Moore was cast as Dijon and worked with Mj Rodriguez on the independent film Saturday Church, she also appeared in the music video such as "Don't Pull Away" by J. Views.[2]

Moore walked in 2017's New York Fashion Week, was photographed for Vogue España and performed in Katy Perry’s Saturday Night Live performance “Swish Swish.”[3]

In Pose, Moore plays Angel Evangelista, a transgender sex worker, one of the first members of the House of Evangelista, who leaves the House of Abundance with Blanca. She meets Stan while working at the piers, and becomes his mistress. After being cast as Angel in Pose, she was then cast in a forthcoming horror anthology series Magic Hour, where she is also an executive producer. Magic Hour is a gender-bending recreation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.[4][5]

Moore formed the production company, Beetlefruit Media, Inc., to try to create more roles and series about marginalized individuals.

Early life

Moore's mother is Puerto Rican, and her father is from the Caribbean. Moore left her parents home at age 14 due to their transphobia and she entered into foster care.[6] Moore moved around frequently during this time, and has thus lived in all five boroughs of New York. She was frequently bullied and dropped out of school in 10th grade. Thereafter, she became a model at age 15; working shoots for Dior and Gucci, among others and she eventually earned her GED.[7]
