Infrastructure Australia is a statutory authority of the federal government. Its role is to plan and co-ordinate infrastructure projects across Australia, particularly where the works cross state borders, and to establish funding priorities free from the targeting of marginal seats. It was established by Kevin Rudd in 2008.[1] Its purview includes both road and public transport projects.

The authority is part of the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development and the Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development. Darren Chester is the responsible minister as at 18 February 2016; the previous minister responsible was Warren Truss.

The board of Infrastructure Australia has 12 members: Mark Birrell (Chair), Julieanne Alroe, Gerard Blood, Michael Carapiet, Peter Corish, Colin Duffield, John Ellice-Flint, Nicole Lockwood, Daniel Norton, Kerry Schott, Peter Watson and Gabrielle Trainor. [2]
