"It's On You" is an early '90s Hip House hit by the German Eurodance/Pop music project M.C. Sar & The Real McCoy.

Background

"Its On You" was released in Europe in 1990 by M.C. Sar & The Real McCoy via ZYX Records. It was a commercial success in Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland and the Netherlands. The song is notable for showing the early orgins of the project in Hip House style music before transitioning to strictly Eurodance and Pop in 1993. "It's On You" is also notable for being the project's first of the project's early singles to feature a Frenchman of African-descent in the frontman/rapper role. Unbeknownst to the public, the frontman/rapper was actually a lip-synch artist who was hired to mime the rap vocals of German rapper Olaf Jeglitza (O-Jay) and play the M.C. Sar character. The song also featured singing vocals from American singer Patricia Petersen (Patsy) and production from producers Juergen Wind (J. Wind) and Frank Hassas (Quickmix). By 1994, Jeglitza had been promoted to the frontman role.

Real McCoy version (2000)

"It's On You"
Song

"It's On You" is a 2000 song by German Eurodance/Pop music project Real McCoy. The single is an updated version of the project's original 1990 hit. The 1999 version had minor edits to the rap lyrics. The female vocals were completely re-recorded by singers Ginger and Gabrielle, and the raps were re-recorded with Olaf Jeglitza. A new music video was filmed in a beach/waterfront-like setting and featured rapper Jason Ammon in the video with a cameo appearance by Jeglitza.
