Jeremiah (/ˌɛr[invalid input: 'ɨ']ˈmə/; JERR-ə-MY) is a male given name meaning "Yhwh will raise", and having its origin in ancient Hebrew. Jeremy and Jerry are English-language names derived from it, and Jeremias is a form that it takes in some Romance languages. Jeremiah is sometimes an Anglicised form of the Irish Diarmaid.

The name takes its popularity from the Hebrew prophet Jeremiah.
