Katherine Alexis "Kate" Peacock (born April 15, 1995) is an American beauty pageant titleholder from Spivey's Corner, North Carolina, who was crowned Miss North Carolina 2015. She competed for the Miss America 2016 title in September 2015.
Pageant career
Early pageants
On September 17, 2011, Peacock won the title Miss Benson's Outstanding Teen 2012.[1] She competed in the 2012 Miss North Carolina's Outstanding Teen pageant and was named second runner-up to Alexandra Badgett for the state title.[2]
Miss North Carolina 2015
On October 11, 2014, Peacock was crowned Miss Dunn Cotton Festival 2015.[3] She entered the Miss North Carolina pageant at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium in June 2015 as one of 37 qualifiers for the state title.[4][5] Peacock's competition talent was tap dance to "Swing the Mood" by Jive Bunny and the Mastermixers.[6][7][8] Her platform is "Peeper Keepers: Promoting Awareness for Pediatric Eye Diseases".[4]
Peacock won the competition on Saturday, June 20, 2015, when she received her crown from outgoing Miss North Carolina titleholder Beth Stovall.[6][9] She earned more than $12,500 in scholarship money, use of a Ford Mustang convertible during her reign, and other prizes from the state pageant.[6][9]
As Miss North Carolina, her activities include public appearances across the state of North Carolina.[9] Peacock will be North Carolina's representative at the Miss America 2016 pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in September 2015.[7][8][10]
Early life and education
Peacock was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and grew up in Spivey's Corner.[11] She is a 2013 graduate of Midway High School.[2] Peacock is an only child. Her parents are Gary and Penny Peacock.[2]
Peacock is a student at Meredith College where she studies psychology and elementary education.[7][2]
