King's Lynn Academy (formerly "the Park High School") is one of the three secondary (11-16 or 18) schools in the West Norfolk town of King's Lynn. It is situated on Queen Mary Road in the Gaywood area of King's Lynn. The school opened in 1939, originally with separate schools for boys and girls. Until 1997 it was known as Gaywood Park High School when it became the Park High School. The school became an academy sponsored by the CWA Academy Trust founded by the College of West Anglia in 2010.
Recent history
In 2006, Deputy Headteacher Dr. Robert Rogers took over as Headteacher from David Stevens who had to leave due to a long-term illness. During this period of hand-over the Park High School was given a notice to improve by Ofsted.
In December 2006 the possibility of the school becoming an Academy was raised. The school officially became an academy in September 2010, renamed King's Lynn Academy sponsored by Norfolk County Council and the College of West Anglia. The Academy has a primary specialism of mathematics, and a secondary specialism of business and enterprise. Ms. Alison Ross resigned from Headteacher status in May 2011 and was replaced by Mr. Craig Morrison. In early 2017 Mr Morrison left to become Principal at King Edward VII Academy. Both schools are members of the Eastern Multi-Academy Trust which was formed following the College of West Anglia's withdrawal from school sponsorship. Ofsted currently judge King's Lynn Academy to require "special measures".
In 2013, the school received its highest GCSE results with 83% of pupils achieving five or more GCSEs at grades C or above and 45% of pupils achieving five good grades (A* - C) including English and maths. [1]
