Air Marshal Gavin Neil "Leo" Davies AO, CSC is a senior officer of the Royal Australian Air Force. He has served as Chief of Air Force since 4 July 2015.
Military career
Davies joined the Royal Australian Air Force in 1979.[1] He became commanding officer of No. 1 Squadron RAAF in 2002, officer commanding No. 82 Wing RAAF at RAAF Base Amberley in 2004 and Director Combat Capability within Air Force Headquarters in 2006.[1] He went on to be Director General Capability Planning in 2008, air attaché in Washington, D.C. in 2010 and Deputy Chief of Air Force in 2012.[1] He became Chief of Air Force on 4 July 2015.[1]
Honours and awards
Davies was awarded the Conspicuous Service Cross on 9 June 2008 for outstanding achievement as Officer Commanding at Number 82 Wing, Royal Australian Air Force Base Amberley.[2]
Davies was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2014.[3]
In 2016 Davies was awarded Singapore's Meritorious Service Medal.[4]
