Lian River (simplified Chinese: 练江; traditional Chinese: 練江; pinyin: Lianjiang) is a river in southeast China that flows into the South China Sea. It is located in the municipality of Jieyang and Shantou, in Southern China's Guangdong Province and has a total length of 72 kilometres (45 mi). It is one of the most polluted rivers in China.[citation needed]
