The Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education in Bangladesh are responsible for conducting the examinations for the Secondary School Certificate (S.S.C), the Higher Secondary (School) Certificate (H.S.C), the Alim and the Dakhil level public examinations.

There are eight regional boards (Barisal, Chittagong, Comilla, Dhaka, Jessore, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Dinajpur) plus the Madrasah Board and the Technical Board. In 1985 Dakhil level was given the standard of education of S.S.C. and in 1987 Alim level was given the standard of education of H.S.C in a reform of the entire education system. The boards are also responsible for the recognition of private sector educational institutes.
