List of New Jersey tornadoes
This is a list of all tornadoes reported in the U.S. state of New Jersey.
Tornadoes
- July 23-24, 2017: Reports of a tornado warning including Ocean City.[1]
- June 24, 2017: In Howell, Monmouth County, 2 tornados occurred via post-tropical cyclone Cindy. No one was injured and only about 600 people lost power.[2] Both tornadoes were EF-0.[3]
- July 25, 2016: The SPC lists in their Storm Reports page for July 25, 2016 that an EF1 tornado touched down in Readington and Branchburg townships, within Hunterdon County. No further detail was provided by the SPC. [4]
- July 14, 2016: The EF-0 tornado touched down near White Township and skipped along a path nearly 3 miles long, damaging a barn and a home, and shearing the tops of trees.[5]
- August 13, 2013: In the Manahawkin section of Stafford Township, a tornado struck southern New Jersey amid a series of powerful storms, knocking down trees and power lines and damaging several church buildings as it cut a two-mile-long path through Ocean County, just miles from the busy shore resort area of Long Beach Island.[6]
- 2013 Bergen County, New Jersey tornado on October 7, 2013, an EF1 tornado touched down in Paramus, with an estimated wind at 100 miles an hour. Most damage was in George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery, and in the Paramus Golf and Ridgewood Country Clubs.[7]

- May 27, 2001: Assessments of damage to buildings in Manalapan Township placed wind speed at 120 miles per hour, and determined that the twister was 200 feet wide and traveled a path about a mile and a half[9]

- 1992 Washington Township, New Jersey tornado on June 24, 1992[10]
- 1990 Montgomery Township, New Jersey tornado on October 18, 1990. Three homes were destroyed and 8 people were injured in Montgomery Township, New Jersey. Was rated an F3.
- 1989 Northeastern United States tornado outbreak on July 10, 1989. Two F0s and an F1 tracked through parts of Passaic County, New Jersey and Bergen County, New Jersey, snapping and uprooting trees, and causing $4 million in damage. About 150 houses were damaged in Bergen county alone.[11]
- 1973 Flanders, New Jersey tornado on May 28, 1973, a dozen homes were destroyed and 12 people were injured in Flanders, New Jersey.[12] It was rated an F3.[13]
- 1899 Elizabeth, New Jersey tornado on August 1, 1899 in Elizabeth, New Jersey[14]
- 1892 Gloucester, New Jersey tornado on July 1, 1892 in Gloucester, New Jersey[15][16]
- 1835 New Brunswick, New Jersey tornado of June 29, 1835[17]

In northern New Jersey, damage was reported along a seven-mile swath from Ringwood to Wyckoff. The area is 20 miles west of Fort Lee, where a tornado was confirmed by the weather service. 'People saw a funnel cloud,' said Police Chief James O'Connor of Oakland, a town east of Ringwood that was affected. 'One man said the sound of the wind was like a locomotive passing through his living room.' In Wyckoff, 'windows in stores and houses literally exploded, and about 15 utility poles snapped right in half,' the coordinator of emergency management, Robert Shannon, said.
