Mayor of Karachi
Karachi is the largest city of Pakistan and among the most populous megacities in the world. Mayor (from the Latin māior, meaning "greater") is a modern title used in many countries for the highest-ranking officer in a municipal government.
List of DCOs and Mayors (Nazims)
Karachi City Municipal Act was promulgated in 1933. Initially the Municipal Corporation was administrated by a Mayor, included 57 councilors. In 1976, Karachi Municipal Corporation was upgraded to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation. Later, in January 2000, it was given the status of City District Government of Karachi, headed by a Nazim and District coordination officer (DCO).
