Logrosán (Spanish pronunciation: [loɣɾoˈsan]) is a municipality of province of Cáceres in Extremadura, Spain. Head of administrative area, commercial subarea of Don Benito-Villanueva. Town of certain entity in the first half of the 20th century (it overcame 8.000 inhabitants) with stately houses that speak to us about a past of major explendor. Population of big mining importance between the 19th and 20th centuries, today has lost both the mining and the identity of ancient mining people.
Geography
Geographically Logrosán one finds placed in the south - oriental end of the province, in the door of the cotogether one of mountain named " The Villuercas " belonging to the mountain range " mounts of Toledo ". Cristobal places the locality on the base of a granitic batolito so called " hill of san " outcropped over the surface in the quaternary one with all probability. Separate Batolito, predominates over the ancient materials, with alternacia between quartzites and slates that outcrop sometimes over the soil provoking interesting sceneries apalachenses.
Natural Way of the Vegas of the Guadiana ends here.
Economy
Economically it is a question of a depressed locality, at a scarce productive level and one it rents much underneath of the average of the region. They predominate over the primary and tertiary sectors. The farms are extensive, of scarce productiveness both in profitability and in creation of jobs. Industry does not exist any partner to this sector. The tertiary sector belongs especially to services of the administration, commerce and catering business. In spite of this poor situation, we can consider it to be the head of the region; fundamentally for being provided with certain regional services of the regional and educational administration, not for offering to the zone a point of commercial, sanitary reference not in no other aspect.
Monuments
PAROCHIAL CHURCH OF SAN-MATEO: Jewel of the rural Gothic, his biggest chapel emulates in height and pretensions to the Gothic cathedrals of Plasencia or Colaugh with vaults of nervaduras of a late Gothic that surprises for his stateliness. Of cathedral aspect for his dimensions. His belfry is crowned with storks.
CHAPEL OF THE VIRGIN OF CONSUELO: Place much venerated by the villagers where his cupulinas finished off with curious lanterns stand out. In them there is venerated the image of the Virgin of Consuelo, boss of the town. The place, in the top of a hill, offers to the visitor magnificent sights of his pasture boyal and from where there can be counted more than thirty thousand holm oaks, which sight gets lost in the nearby province of Badajoz.
PARK OF THE ALCORNOCAL: Placed in the entry west of the people, it is a question of a small forest of centenary cork oaks of several dozens of meters of height, since it is possible to observe in the low photo. In the 70s it was turned into the principal municipal park of the locality. Today it lodges sports facilities, swimming pools, infantile park and the House of the Culture. During the summer it is a very visited place.
THE GREEN ROUTE: An economic important effort and the passionate illusion of some persons as ancient mayor D. Manuel González, they have made possible the one that is the first tourist attraction of the locality and one of the most important natural footpaths between fields and pastures of Extremadura.
HILL OF ST KITTS: It is the cradle of the town. There the first logrosanos lived thousands of years ago. There are many traces of the step of diverse cultures for the hill, but they are without excavating, without cataloguing, without investigating. A sorrow.
Other places of interest
The Helechal: Place where our grandmothers were doing the washing. A place of deep traditions and singular beauty that today is left by the apathy.
The Well Be quiet: The only local monument to our mining past.
The station of the train: A homage to the improvisation and the waste of the past, and to the abandonment and the apathy of the present (fed by the lack of organization between the Administrations). Today him prevee a promising future with the construction of the GREEN ROUTE, although the buildings of the same one are not going to suffer niguna improves for the time being.
The Roman Bridge: That does not have anything of Roman. It is a question of a medieval construction. What is of interest is the place where it is.
Stately houses: The people is splashed with them, they are like an indelible memory of our past social structure: landowners and workers, of to count. The majority they belong to wealthy families formerly, but today come at least. What explains the lamentable situation of ruin of many of these most beautiful houses, of artesonados and decorated roofs, stones staircases of grain, wide brokers and beautiful courts and corrals.
