Lori Piestewa, American soldier who was wounded during an ambush and taken prisoner of war during 2003 Invasion of Iraq. She later died of her wounds shortly afterwards while in captivity becoming the first Native American woman to die in combat for the United States, and the first female US servicemember killed during the Iraq War.
