Mathias Jensen (born 1 January 1996) is a Danish footballer who plays as a midfielder for La Liga club Celta.

Club career

FC Nordsjælland

In January 2015, Jensen signed a new three-year contract with FC Nordsjælland[1] and in the summer, at the age of 19, he was moved to the first team squad. Jensen got his debut for Nordsjælland on 20 September 2015 replacing Emiliano Marcondes in the 93nd minute in a 1–0 victory against FC Midtjylland in the Danish Superliga.[2]

Jensen had a great start on the 2017/18 season, with 3 assist and 3 goals in his first five league matches of the season. That gained him the captain armband in the following three games.[3] Following the retirement of club captain Patrick Mtiliga, Jensen was permanently given the captain armband from the start of the 2018, after an extraordinary season with 14 goals and 10 assist.

Jensen won the 'Talent of the Year 2017' prize by the Danish Football Association.[4] He also won the FC Nordsjælland Player of The Year 2017/18 prize at the end of the season.[5]

Celta

On 8 August 2018, Jensen signed with Celta Vigo in La Liga.[6]

International career

In May 2018 he was named in Denmark’s preliminary 35-man squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.[7] However, he did not make the final 23.[8]
