Emekwanem Ogugua Biosah Jr. (born March 29, 1990), better known by his stage name Maxo Kream, is an Nigerian American hip hop recording artist from Houston, Texas. He has released four mixtapes, Retro Card (2012), Quicc Strikes (2013), #Maxo187 (2015), and The Persona Tape (2016).

Early life

Emekwanem Ogugua Biosah Jr. was born on March 29, 1990 in Houston, Texas and grew up in Alief, Texas a middle-class suburb in Southwest Houston before moving to Fort Bend while in Highschool. He attended Kempner High School in the affluent Houston neighborhood of Sugar Land. His father is Nigerian and his mother is African American. While growing up, he became affiliated with the Hoover Crips and started participating in crimes before going to jail. After he was released he began doing music with a group of his friends known as the "Kream Clicc" (a group which began while he was in highschool to show their addiction to shoe collecting) Alief Hastings High School.[1]

Career

In 2012, Maxo Kream started to gain popularity after releasing a remix of Kendrick Lamar's Rigamortis on YouTube.[2] Quicc Strikes pushed him into the limelight, hitting over 85,000 hits on LiveMixtapes. To cap off 2013 and set off a strong 2014, Maxo ran the Texas leg of Chief Keef’s tour and dropped a visual with A$AP Ant for their collaboration “Mob Of Gods.” Maxo Kream’s #MAXO187 mixtape includes features from Joey Bada$$, Lamb$, The Sauce Twinz, Father, LE$, and Fredo Santana. “His storytelling has improved,” praises Complex , “with more thoughtful and varied songs that are drawn from his rough past as a gang member.” For a local Crip with a history of home burglary and drug-peddling dating back grade school, Maxo Kream takes a lighthearted approach to making music. [3][4]

On October 22, 2016, Maxo Kream was arrested for engaging in a "organized crime" act and was held at Ford Bend County Jail in Richmond, TX.[5]
