Melih Mahmutoğlu (born May 12, 1990) is a Turkish professional basketball player who is team captain[1] and plays the shooting guard position for Fenerbahçe of the Turkish Basketball League.

Professional career

He started to play basketball with Genç Boğaziçispor. He transferred to Efes Pilsen in 1999. He grew up with the Efes Pilsen juniors. He made his professional debut in the Turkish Second Basketball League with Pertevniyal, Efes Pilsen's feeder club, during the 2006-07 season.

He signed a contract with Darüşşafaka Cooper Tires in 2008. He won the championship with the Darüşşafaka in the Turkish Second Basketball League, averaging 7.3 points and 1.4 rebounds.

He signed a contract with Galatasaray Medical Park in 2010. He was loaned to Antalya BB for the 2011-12 season. He averaged 11.8 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.0 assist.

In the summer of 2012, He moved to Erdemirspor. His 12.1 points in 30 games drew the attention of some bigger clubs. In the August of 2013, he signed a two-year contract with option to extend for one season with Fenerbahçe Ülker.[2] In his first Euroleague season, he averaged 5.5 points and 1.2 rebounds over 22 games, while shooting 44.8% from the field.

In 2014–15 season, Fenerbahçe advanced to the Euroleague Final Four for the first time in team's history.[3] On May 15, 2015, however, they lost in the semifinal game to Real Madrid with 87–96.[4]

Turkish national team

He played at the 2006 European U-16 Championship, at the 2007 and 2008 European U-18 Championships, at the 2009 and 2010 European U-20 Championships. He also played for Turkish national team and won the gold medal at the 2013 Mediterranean Games.
