New is a 2004 Tamil language film which stars S. J. Suryaah, director and producer of the film, and Simran in the lead roles, co-starring Devayani and Kiran. New is a film about a 8 year old boy turns into a 28 year old man by a Scientist. It is inspired by the Hollywood film "Big". The film was also remade in Telugu as Naani which had Mahesh Babu and Amisha Patel in the lead roles. The Telugu version was also directed by S. J. Suryaah. New released on July 16, 2004

The soundtrack was composed by Academy Award winner music maestro A. R. Rahman with lyrics by Vairamuthu. Rahman remixed the 1964 hit Tamil song Thottal Poo Malarum from the movie Padagotti with completely modified orchestration, tune and singers.
