Oskar Sundqvist (born 23 March 1994) is a Swedish professional ice hockey centre currently under contract with the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL). Sundqvist was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the third round, 81st overall, in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

Playing career

Sundqvist was drafted whilst playing with his original club from youth levels with Skellefteå AIK of the Swedish Elite League. He played in his first Elitserien game on 24 October 2012, against Frölunda HC.[1] Sundqvist won the Swedish Championship with Skellefteå in 2014.

On 31 May 2014, Sundqvist was signed to a three-year entry level contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins.[2]

During the 2015–16 season, Sundqvist was recalled from AHL affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and made his NHL debut with Pittsburgh on 5 February 2016.[3] During the 2016 playoffs Sundqvist was mainly a healthy scratch. Pittsburgh then eventually went on to win the Stanley Cup, resulting in Sundqvist winning the Stanley Cup in his first season.

On 23 June 2017, during the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, he was traded by the Penguins along with their first-round selection to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for Ryan Reaves and a second-round selection in 2017.[4]
